The Challenge

What the client needed to solve

KTS CAB runs 24,000+ drivers across Jaipur and Rajasthan. Before the app, every booking came in by phone call or WhatsApp. Dispatchers handled 60 to 80 calls a day, assigning drivers manually from a shared spreadsheet. Three problems were bleeding the business: **Lost bookings.** Customers who could not get through during peak hours went to Ola or Uber. No app meant no way to capture demand at 11pm or on a Sunday. **No real-time visibility.** The owner had no live view of where vehicles were. Trip disputes were resolved from memory. Driver accountability was zero. **Cash gaps.** All payments were cash. Reconciliation happened at the end of each shift and was regularly off by hundreds of rupees. KTS had looked at white-label solutions. None supported their dispatch logic or their pricing model for outstation trips. A custom build was the only viable path.

The Solution

What Matply built and why

Matply built three connected systems: a customer Android and iOS app, a driver Android app, and a Laravel web admin panel. All three talk to the same backend in real time via Firebase. **Real-time GPS dispatch.** Firebase streams driver location to the customer app every 3 seconds. The customer sees their driver moving on a map from confirmation to arrival. Matply evaluated a custom WebSocket approach but Firebase reduced development time by 3 weeks and handled connection drops more reliably on patchy Rajasthan mobile networks. **Smart driver assignment.** When a booking is placed, the admin panel automatically scores available drivers by proximity and idle time. A dispatcher can override the suggestion in one tap. This replaced the spreadsheet entirely. **In-app payments via Razorpay.** Customers pay by UPI, card, or wallet. The driver app shows a payment-confirmed screen so no driver leaves a pickup point chasing cash. Razorpay's webhook fires a Firebase event that updates the admin panel booking status in under 2 seconds. **Outstation trip pricing engine.** KTS had a custom rate card per km, waiting charges, toll add-ons that no white-label product supported. Matply built a pricing rule engine in Laravel that the admin can update from a web panel without any code change. **Admin dashboard.** Fleet view, live booking list, driver status, payment reports, and booking history with export to CSV. Built as a Laravel + Next.Js web app so dispatchers work from desktop.
